Benefits of Exclusive DTS Licence
The licensed use of DTS (Diathermic Syncope®) technology delivers significant benefits in animal welfare, meat quality, and workplace efficiency.
Scientifically validated, advanced-manufacturing technology proven to enhance animal welfare outcomes.
Purpose-built, patented system designed to be humane and compliant with both Kosher and Halal requirements.
Provides processors with a reliable technology that improves efficiency, profitability, and working conditions.
Eliminates the need for a secondary or ventral cut.
Rapid application time with immediate effect.
Causes no damage to blood vessels, organs, skull, or brain.
Improves operator safety by removing the need for immobilisers.
Produces a fast bleed-out with minimal clonic movement, enabling better blood collection.
Prevents ecchymosis (bruising) and blood splash, resulting in higher meat quality.
Business Design Scoping: DTS Stunning Technology
Summary
As consumers become increasingly concerned about the origins of their food, meat processors face complex challenges involving market access, labelling, licensing, and diverse religious slaughter requirements.
Backed by MLA and industry investment, DTS technology offers a scientifically proven method that addresses animal welfare regulations and meets both religious and commercial processing needs. This project developed business models to help Australian and international processors adopt a humane, pain-free stunning method that induces reversible insensibility at exsanguination.
Models included cost–benefit analyses for various processing volumes and religious certification levels. To support commercialisation, a comprehensive strategy was developed, including:
Marketing and communication plans
Business plan and pricing model
Service and installation models
Customer-focused product refinement
Future value proposition planning to maximise adoption and ROI
Market Insights
Research identified key adoption drivers and barriers:
Small processors: Require a compact single-box unit for religious slaughter, plus assistance in engineering and installing the Faraday cage.
Large processors: Primarily concerned with operational speed; generally not limited by capital or technical resources.
Labour constraints: Increasingly important, as Halal certification via DTS allows all offal to be sold as Halal-compliant rather than rendered.
